9/03 Update: Canada Post/USPS shipping has returned (total duties/fees now shown at checkout)
08/29 Update: US shipments are temporarily paused while we wait for registration information from Canada Post to integrate Zonos verification into our Shopify system. Current US shipments will require new shipping labels with DDP information to bypass these regulations. Canada Post has confirmed an email with special Zonos registration link will be sent to all personal/small business accounts by next week. As of August 29th, the U.S. is ending the de minimis exemption, which means all Canadian shipments under $800 heading to the U.S. will be subject to duties & taxes that must be prepaid with additional documents.
The good news is that our products are most likely exempt and Shopify have also partnered with a verification app called Zonos, so that any applicable taxes or fees will be included in the total cost at checkout. As of this evening, we're still unclear about our exemption status and certain phrasing, like how Shopify plans to "digitalize the backend" of documentation at the border. Once we receive assurance of our exemption status and other relevant information, US-based shipments will resume. We will take care of anything that is needed on our end so that customers will not be surprised by any fees or charges after they have placed their order.
We're otherwise confident this transition won't negatively impact deliveries to the US in the long-term, as other merchants who aren't exempt have already implemented this criteria and are running the system successfully. As Shopify Support currently seem a bit overwhelmed by these rapid changes, we’re getting conflicting responses and would prefer a more definitive answer before sending current US shipments to the border.
Due to this final ambiguity, shipments to the U.S. will be temporarily paused until we confirm this information. We do expect a quick resolution from Shopify, as their staff seem to be working very hard on making sense of these abrupt and unexpected demands.
In the meantime, you can still purchase our products as a USA customer and feel confident they'll get to you safely - as our TAT is currently at 1.5 months, this update will most likely not affect future shipments but has unfortunately delayed our current queue.
